Fresh and raw fish appetisers

Our restaurant offers a wide selection of fresh appetisers made using high-quality fish, molluscs, and shellfish:
  • La Crudité di Trimalcione, a selection of 8 blast-chilled or raw, fresh products;
  • Tuna tartar with local herbs;
  • Tuna carpaccio with extra virgin olive oil and lemon;
  • Local scallop prepared 'al nature' with extra virgin olive oil and lemon;
  • Marinated king prawns with black pepper and lemon.
You can also request the preparation of "Gran Gratin", a tasting of fish mixed with molluscs with a thin layer of gratin, and of the "Padellata", a hearty sauté with molluscs and shellfish.

Cold and hot seafood starters

Besides the tasting of fish and other seafood specialities, you can also order classic cold starters:

Whipped wild sea bass with slices of toasted bread
Wild sea bass terrine (pâté cooked in ceramic dish) with balsamic vinegar reduction, and white pepper
"Alla chioggiotta" cooked savòr, a sweet prepared with raisins, pine nuts, and vincotto
Sardoni barcolani (local anchovies) with a cherry tomato, basil, and chilli pepper
La Bomba di tonno (lit. the tuna bomb), a dish that belongs to Italo Svevo's repertoire
Local squid braised with potatoes and rosemary
Tuna roll with goat's cheese cream on fresh cabbage in a citronette sauce

Our restaurant also prepares hot starters, such as:

Busara (dish served in an earthenware pot) with mussels, tomato, and basil
Baked local 'canestrelli' pasta au gratin
Local scallops au gratin (3 pieces)

  • Puglian orecchiette pasta with octopus, sweet pepper, and pecorino cheese;
  • Egg maltagliati pasta and busara with prawns;
  • Trenette pasta with tuna roe from Sardinia.
Our restaurant excels in the preparation of second courses made using fish, including:  
  • Fried sardoni Barconali (anchovies) in breadcrumbs;
  • Grilled local squids with ratatouille;
  • Grilled local octopus on parmesan cream;
  • Wild sea bass prepared "al nature";
  • Sesame mullets with boiled potatoes;
  • Millefoglie with sea bream and vegetables;
  • Cut of FAO 37 tuna on rocket salad and roasted potatoes;
  • Slice of "Alla Mediterranea" cooked turbot with tomato, olives, capers and spring onions;
  • Grilled king prawns;
  • Sea bass fillet with butter and porcini mushrooms.

If you wish to combine the excellent fish tasting offered by La Bottega di Trimalcione restaurant, you can also order classic side dishes, such as baked potatoes, mixed salad, boiled French beans, grilled vegetables and mushrooms. You will also find lots of excellent desserts, including lemon sorbets, strawberry semifreddos, chocolate pies, and ganaches with crumble and cream.
